Saturday 2 PM CINEMA SEX & THE HAYES CODE By the late 1920s, the Hollywood Motion Picture Industry had seen the writing on the wall. If we don't develop a reliable method of ensuring that the general public views our movies as "safe and wholesome", we risk being censored by the Federal, State and Local governments. The Industry's response was the establishment of the Hayes Code which held an iron clad grip on American Movie Production for more than 25 years.
